Recent findings reveal the children as young as pre-school age are being referred to therapy for acting out sexual behaviors in daycare and school. This workshop provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to provide therapist with gentle way to open dialog with families about the importance of early sex education with their children with parents and possibly in school systems. Interventions include role play, case studies and normalizing evidence based research of children’s sexual behavior through different ages. This workshop discusses how to identify normal sexual behavior, problem sexual behavior, and the treatment services available children and their families. Workshop content also addresses the complex challenges and sexual influences that the music industry and media his on children as young as three-years-old.
By the end of the presentation, participants will be able to • Gently open dialog with families and children about the importance of early sex education, through scripts provided and role play hands-on experience. Participants will evaluate learning by completing a post-workshop evaluation of information given. • Address the impact the media and music are having on today’s children and teach parents to monitor child’s access, identify normal sexual behavior and problem sexual behavior in children and the treatment services available children and their families. Improvement in skills will be evaluated by post-workshop evaluation.
